In this article, we will discuss three (3) above. Which is said to be one of the major cause of students failure in exams. We are going to highlight simple steps which every student who wishes to pass examinations must employ while studying for their exams. I presume your mind is set to discover the secret steps on………
                               "HOW TO STUDY FOR EXAMINATIONS"
SECRET STEP 1. Focus only on subject and courses you offer.
In every level of education you find yourself, there are specified subjects you are required to offer. Let us use collage level students as a case study. In collage, science students are required to offer: MATHEMATICS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, ECONOMICS, BIOLOGY, AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND GEOGRAPHY. While art students offer:  MATHEMATICS, ENGLISH LANGUAGE, LITERATURE IN ENGLISH, COMMERCE, ECONOMICS, CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS STUDIES, AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE AND BIOLOGY.
A science student preparing for examination should never engage in studying subject not related to their area. If you are a science student, the period you are studying for examination is not the time to read or study subjects from other areas you find interesting, no! Doing so will only jeopardize your chance of succeeding in exams. Though studying wide is not bad for a student because such can enrich your knowledge and helps you to understand the world and you. But there is a time for everything, prior to your examination is not the right time for that. There are always holidays, you can cease such time to study as widely as you wish, that will be very rewarding.
SECRET STEP 2. Strictly follow scheme of work.
Most student fail to follow schemes, which is not encouraging. Your examination questions rally round your scheme for the section. So if you happen to be familiar with every bit of information contained in all topics in your scheme, exam questions will be a walk over for you. That is how rewarding applying your scheme of work can be. Never you as a student endeavor to work without your scheme, but rather study all information the scheme requires you to be acquainted with. This is one of the success secret most student fail to apply while studying for examinations.
SECRET STEP 3. Make up questions from your scheme.
In the article "5 powerful tools to aid you in studying effectively" we discussed the above as one of the tools to studying effectively, so it applies to anyone who is preparing for examinations. When studying for exams, always make up questions as much as possible from your scheme, and master the answers to these questions. You should not be surprised that majority of the questions you have stipulated and studied will appear in your exams, you will surely be thankful when that happens and that will boost your morale since you have tackled similar questions prior to the examination. This can be very rewarding, so always keep this at the back of your mind as you run the race of studying for exams.
SECRET STEP 4. Your study time.
This is another powerful tool you may not have given the needed attention. When I was in collage, I witnessed this severally. Many student tends to start studying some weeks before exams, some even go to the length of studying at the examination day out of pressure. Such act is an academic sin that does not deserve forgiveness. Studying effectively requires more than enough time as it entails so many tactics that needs to be applied appropriately. Now imagine a student who just began studying when he discovered that examination comes up in a week time. How far and well will that student study? One should always apply discernment when handling any situation. It is clear to all student that there are always going to be exams at the end of all academic section. That fact alone leaves you with no option but never to stop studying even for a moment. Many people have done this in the past, a good example is "MICHEAL FARADAY" He spent quality time in studying that he even forgot to eat his food. Such is a good example that worth's emulating by every serious student.
FINAL SECRET 5. Text yourself prior to every examination.
With this you will be able to scrutinize yourself to know if you are fully prepared to take exams or not. You can invite a friend or family member to examine you, share your materials with the person. He can either decide to ask you questions base on what you have studied. Doing this frequently before examinations, will enable you to be sure always that you are capable to sit for exams, with the assurance of sailing through with ease.       We have beaten about the bush for so long. Now let us delve into the crux of the matter.
Here are five (5) secret tools to studying effectively.
         TOOL 1.Your study environment.
Majority of us would prefer having a quiet environment that is set aside for study, while others can also cope studying in a noisy place. You know which best suits you, if you are the type that can study in a noisy environment and will not get distracted, you are good to go. But if you can't cope studying in a noisy place, never you do so because you will end up wasting your time and energy. If possible, use a desk or a table with plenty of space on which to spread out your work. To avoid being distracted always keep supplies such as pen and paper, a glass of water handy so you won't have to get up constantly. Note! If possible switch off your cell phone, turn off your TV sets and restrict visitors during the specified time for your study as such can cause unexpected distractions.
If you study with light, make sure that you have an adequate, glare-free lighting. This can reduce study fatigue and also protects your eye. Do not forget to check ventilation and room temperature. A cool room provides more invigorating study environment than a warm room does. What if you are the type that frequently fall asleep while studying? Always keep a mint close by to suck on or a chew gum to keep your mouth alert, if dizziness persist try going to the bathroom, splash cold or warm water on your face.
TOOL 2.Survey the material and make up questions.
When you glance through the material you are to study looking at subheadings, charts and so forth, you will get the overview of it. After surveying the material, pick a pen and a note. Make up questions base on subheadings or topic sentence, then keep the questions in mind before reading the material. This will keep your mind focused on what you read.
      TOOL 3.Peruse the assigned material.
With the questions in mind, read the material carefully, looking for answers to those questions. While reading you may come across strange words, pause and check out the meaning of those words in your dictionary. Do not engage in fallacious reading, after reading if you do not grasp the meaning of what you have read, try reading through again. If you still do not fully understand it do not pretend as if you did, read through for the third and fourth time until you fully understand the section before you proceed.
    TOOL 4.Meditation and envisaging.
Now that you have perused the material and you are sure that you fully grasp the meaning, next keep the material aside and ponder over what you have read, envisage or create a mental picture, try to relate the things you have read to the physical world. Afterwards, pick the questions you wrote down on the onset, try to recite the answers without looking at the material, writing the answers out can also help.
TOOL 5.Take a break  and repeat the steps.
All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy, so it applies to reading. One should not just study! study!! study!!! Without giving the brain time to rest. The Human brain is like a machine that works and needs adequate rest. If possible take a nap, as sleep can help in repairing and re-energizing your body system. Recreation also helps to enhance and exercise not just the brains but the whole body. Note! Be conscious of yourself not to sleep or play away the whole time. Make sure you repeat the steps, studying effectively is not a one time thing, but rather a regular routine is a part of studying effectively.
