Gauranteed success: How to score 250 and above in your 2017/2018 JAMB UTME

Did you know?
As at the year 2016 JAMB UTME was left the only channel for getting admission into any high Institution in Nigeria,
after the scrapping of post UTME. This leaves high institution aspirants with no other option but to sail through the JAMB examination. However, The JAMB body has set 180 as the minimum score and as a result, any student who scores below 180 stands no chance of being admitted into any institution in Nigeria.
You probably want to be admitted into your choice of institution in Nigeria without any delay, and I presume that is the primary reason you were eager to peruse this post  “how to score 250 and above in 2017/2018 JAMB examination.” Well, I am about to spill the beans.
The secret of making JAMB examination in Nigeria
There are two ways you can make your JAMB UTME. Both ways will be discussed in this post.
Effective preparation: This entails studying effectively and with the right materials. In one of my previous posts, I discussed “how to study for exams.” There, I pointed out the necessary steps you need to take while studying for exams to ensure your success. Nevertheless, I will love to carry you through a journey on how to prepare for Jamb examination to score 250 and above in one sitting. Without any delay, tighten your seat belt—lets go..
Step 1. Focus: In studying for your JAMB UTME, you are expected to focus only on the four subjects you have enrolled for. Why is this important? For the reason that there is a great deal of work for you to accomplish in a short time, therefore, you need to increase your focus and channel them to the right part.
Step 2. Apply my secret study method (The 3*4 study method): Let us assume you enrolled for MATHEMATICS, USE OF ENGLISH PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY. This is how the 3*4 method works.
(Study the chart below carefully and note that the scores used are mere speculations)
MATHEMATICS ------------------ 80%  attention
USE OF ENGLISH ----------------- 80% attention
PHYSICS ----------------------------- 80% attention
CHEMISTRY ------------------------- 20% attention
This method requires  you not to give equal attention to all four subjects. By doing this you will stand a chance of scoring higher than giving equal attention to the four subjects.
Look closely at the comparison below:
                            Normal method
MATHEMATICS ------------------ 50%  attention
USE OF ENGLISH ----------------- 50% attention
PHYSICS ----------------------------- 50% attention
CHEMISTRY ------------------------- 50% attention
                 Speculated score
MATHEMATICS ------------------ 55
USE OF ENGLISH ----------------- 50
PHYSICS ----------------------------- 45
CHEMISTRY ------------------------- 50
Total score --------------------------------- 200
                     The 3*4 method
MATHEMATICS ------------------ 80%  attention
USE OF ENGLISH ----------------- 80% attention
PHYSICS ----------------------------- 80% attention
CHEMISTRY ------------------------- 20% attention
      Speculated score
MATHEMATICS ------------------ 75
USE OF ENGLISH ----------------- 80
PHYSICS ----------------------------- 85
CHEMISTRY ------------------------- 20
Total score --------------------------------- 260
That is it, the second method yields the best result. You are aiming at 250 or above right? With the 3*4 method you get more than that.
Step 3. Make use of the Jamb syllabus: Every question you are going to come across in JAMB examination rally round the syllabus. Therefore, If by assumption you master all the information required in the syllabus. Then all the questions the JAMB body will present will all be a walk over for you.
Step 4. Make use of past questions
In every JAMB examination, past questions are repeated or closely repeated. It happens year after year, 2017/2018 section would not be an exception I think. Make sure you cover all the past questions on your four subject, if by chance questions are repeated as usual, then it will stand as a bonus to you. Click here to get JAMB past questions at low price.
After considering these four steps highlighted above, Let me also bring to your notice an alternative method to score 250 and above in your JAMB UTME.

4 risky career choices you do not want to fall victim to

The overwhelming desire or urge to secure a job with sky-high salary lure so many people to pop into any career choice that presents itself.
As a result, many choose the wrong career path that is detrimental to their future. Before delving into any career, there are certain factors that you must consider in order to make the right career choice. Compiled in this discuss are four deadly career choices you will never want to choose if you are in your right senses.
             1.     Non lucrative career: One career choice you do not want to go into is the one that lacks lucrativeness. There are few careers out there which I know will never fall off the line, but still they will only earn you a peanut at the end each month. Everyone wants to live on their dreams (You surely want to drive your dream car and have your own house). This is exactly why you work 24 hours each day. But at the end if those dream of yours fails to come into reality, then life does not worth it. Choosing a career that is not productive will never help you reach your dreams. A factor that will deprive you of reaching your goal is a set back you want out of your way right?— If you hope for a bright and successful future, then I dare you to rule out any career that is not lucrative from your check list. Without doing that, your dream of success is just a fallacy.
            2.     A career declining in the labor market. The soul purpose of any career climber is to secure a lasting job at the end. No one derives pleasure from striving after the wind. Notwithstanding, One out of all those striving after the wind knows that they are doing so. Since the labor market is not stationary, it will be wise for you to consider the present status of the occupation you aspire, in the labor market. This will enable you to avoid choosing a career (occupation) that has declined or will decline in the labor market sometime soon.
          3.     A career not related to your ability: Many people make a career choice not because it is what they can do better nor what they really want, but because it’s what their friends, relatives and the famous people they have heard of are into. The biggest mistake you can make in life is to choose a career that does not relate to your natural talent. Choosing a career is the foundation of life because it determines how your future will be. An adage says: As you make your bed, so will you lie on it. Everyone has natural talents, but discovering and nurturing them is what counts. Choosing your career according to your natural abilities will guarantee you success and satisfaction in future. Doing otherwise will only live your future in jeopardy.
           4.     Choosing a career you do not have passion for. You know what you love, you also know what you will enjoy doing best. Then doing something else will never give you the joy you wish for yourself, you are just cheating on your own self. Consider the experience of a man named Caleb. When he was a boy he had a friend who sailed with him through his nursery and primary education level. On getting to collage his friend joined science department. For the sake of not breaking the bond of friendship he has with his friend Caleb also leaped into science. After their first two years in collage, Caleb’s grade began to drop drastically. But his friend kept improving. One of his school teacher approached him to know why he was no longer doing well in his school activities but he never saw any reason behind his dilemma. The teacher encouraged him to study hard or swap to Art since he is finding it hard to cope in Science. But he objected because he never wanted to part with his friend. Years later Caleb and his friend graduated from collage as science students and went to high school. They both struggled in high school and also graduated as medical Doctors. But something was missing Caleb has never dreamt of becoming a medical doctor… To Cut the long story short, after working in the hospital for some years Caleb decided to quite because he never enjoyed working as a medical doctor, so with the little money he gathered, he opened a hardware shop and that is how a medical doctor ended up as a trader.
Final words: We have wondered over the bitter paths of making a career choice. The four factors discussed in this article must be at the back of your mind as you go about making your choice of career. Also the experience of Caleb has so many lessons for you to consume. I hope you choose a career that will bring you joy and satisfaction in life.

True success and false success. What is the contrast?

Visualize this final year student, who is at the verge of graduating from a university. Prior to his final examinations,
he wakes up 6am every morning, goes to lecture room from lecture room he goes to the library before going back home. On getting home, he sleeps at 7pm and wakes up 12am, reeds through the night. This student continued this way for several months till he wrote his final examinations.

Yet, another final year student who loves partying, spends time hanging out with friends in night clubs, sleep and wakes anytime he wishes. On getting to his final examination, he visits his lecturer with a huge amount of money and other valuables-just for him to pass his examinations. At the end this two students sailed through their final examinations; graduated from the university. In summary, they both had success in their educational career. Same it is with you and everyone else. You can do all in your powers just to succeed in what ever you are doing. Nevertheless, have you ever wondered if what you get is a true success or false success? Before we answer that question, let us understand what a false and true success is all about.
                                                    False Success
False or spurious success is worse than failure. Why? Because when you fail, there is a chance that you can buckle up and do better next time. But false success will never leave you with a chance of improving. But then, what makes a success false? A success is labeled false when it comes as a result of personal influence and not effort. The illustration in the onset of this discuss portrays what a false and true success entails.

“A false success is likened to a rotten food covered in a golden plate. Outside it looks perfect and attractive, but inside it has nothing to write home about.”

Unlike true success, false success never gives you a lasting happiness and desired satisfaction. Sincerely, no one wants to achieve a false success….But what can you do? Out of greed, fear of shame and embarrassment, you end up seeking for success in the wrong way. The result (false success)
                                          True Success
True success differs from a false one. It is not a failure in disguise. Often, you truly succeed not because of your great influence, but as a result of your relentless and spotless effort. True success is the aspiration of every student. Moreover, many fail to understand that it is not meant for the weak. For you to achieve true success, it is not easy for you must durable, determined, hard working and zealous. Cultivating these qualities is not a day job and that is why true success is not achieved by all.
Say no to false success and seek true success
After considering the effects of false success and that of true success, a rightly thinking person will avoid false success and start seeking true success without much delay. If you seek true success, here are few tips we have prepared for you to consume:
  •     Hardworking: Hard work is the key to success, if you want true success in your educational race, then hard work will be a tool you must have in your disposal. In the educational world, hard work entails putting your studies and other educational activities first before anything else. As you know, the is no other way to educational success other than having a regular study routine. (Fetch ideas from all corners, ask questions.) Obviously, this is not easy and that’s why it is termed “hard work.”
  •      Self discipline: This virtue often eludes the mind of the mass. Research shows that out of every ten persons only one has self discipline. Without having full control of oneself putting the required effort to achieve certain goal will be a very hard task. For you to be truly successful, you must nurture your abilities to control your desires and impulses. This will enable you to weed out every possibility of achieving false success.
  •     Diligence: Another important ability that will guide you to true success. Being determined will enable you not to give up easily in pursuing success in your educational career, to quit along the line should be the last thought to come into your mind. Without persevering, it is real hard to get anything you seek in this critical world.
  •       Having a simple eye: This is a heavenly virtue, the benefits of having a simple eye is inestimable. Greediness is the fundamental factor that leads one into achieving false success—you just want to be ahead of others and to do that you are tempted to do all it takes—but life is not always so. The only weapon against greediness is having a simple eye. Do not desire what is above your powers, but be satisfied with the little you have.
Final words: True success and false success is just like success and repeated failure. But rather be hardworking, diligent, disciplined and endeavor maintain a simple eye, as a result you will see what true success really means.

10 secrets you must know before going for 2016 utme screening in any university/polytechnic

It is no new gist for you that the scene of the world is changing, especially in Nigerian  educational sector. It is moving at a fast pace and one can't afford to be left behind.  In June 2 2016, The Minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu declared there won't be anymore post UTME examination for candidates seeking for admission.

For full details see vanguardngr. As a result candidates who scored below 180 in Joint Admission Matriculation Board examination (JAMB) 2016, has no chance of getting into any institution in Nigeria. The effect of post UTME scrapping and laying 180 as the benchmark for admission qualification into any institution, including polytechnic and collage of education, was a great disdain to most admission seekers as they had no clue of this new development before sitting for JAMB examination. Prior to the introduction of Post UTME in 2004, screening was conducted orally and essay. I presume this is the format Institutions are likely to adapt for the 2016 screening text. Candidates who qualify to sit for the text must have these ten (10) secret tips at the back of their mind if they are to succeed.
Now drop whatever you are doing at this moment and pay rapt attention, as I highlight these important facts that will help you to succeed in your race among the 1.5million candidates, who seek to gain admission into different institutions in Nigeria in 2016.
Despite the fact that Federal Government nailed 180 as the benchmark for all institutions, and none is allowed to go below the benchmark. Moreover, it is wise for you to know that most University in Nigeria will never go below 200. Universities like, University of Lagos (UniLag), University of Ibadan (UI), University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), University of Benin (UniBen), for full list of JAMB cut of marks for all institutions in Nigeria for 2016 academic session see nigeriaschool.com
Here are the ten (10) secrets you must digest, before going for screening in any Institution of your choice.
  • Punctuality: You probably must have heard the saying that “punctuality is the sole of a business” for the year the 2016, Institutions will employ different tactics in weeding out candidates. You wouldn’t want to be a victim. Most Institution like UniBen expects all their candidates to be sited in the examination hall 1 and a ½ hour before the examination time. You have no excuse to be late, be punctual at all cost if you really aspire to gain admission into the institution of your choice in Nigeria in 2016.
  • Dressing code: Sitting in any Institution for screening text is as good as saying you will soon become a student of that institution. Now think for a moment if there would be any institution who wishes to have an indecent person as a student, of course none. So you are under an obligation to dress decently to the screening hall.
  •  Fully equip yourself with the needed material: If possible take with you 3 to 4 pen, pencil and other needed supplies to avoid inconvenience in the examination hall. I believe you would not want to waste time doing unnecessary things in the hall when examination is on.
  • Strictly follow instructions: Prior to the screening text, you will be given instructions.  Do not overlook any of the instructions but strictly follow all to the core in other to avoid being penalized.
  • Obedient to school rules: Every Institution has rules and regulations governing them. As an aspirant, it is your responsibility to know all the rules and regulations and obey them, doing this will create a friendly impression on the heart of the institution-that you are qualified to be one of her student.
  • Adequate preparation: You probably must have been studying very hard prior to this moment. That has been a good move, keep up the good work. Consider a candidate who is seeking for admission in an institution, he carefully followed all the instructions and rules but he had nothing upstairs to deliver. Such will only jeopardize his chance of gaining admission.
  •   Be smart and up to date: Every serious student never fails to seek for the latest information around them. Screening text sometimes include aptitude text, it takes a smart and up to date student to tackle questions from such areas.
  • Courage: This virtue will be of great help to you in the long run. A courageous person will never be griped with fear in any strange situation that comes up, and without fear you can make the right decision with ease.
  • Avoid examination malpractice: Cheating is the order of the day. Students fail to put into consideration, the effect of such act before engaging in it. Sadly, many have fallen victim to the severe consequences of examination malpractice. You do not want to be a victim too.
  • Have full knowledge of the Institution you aspire: It will be a wise move for you to gather every bit of information you can, of your school of aspiration. You can often go there for a tour. This will be of a create help to you.
If you apply these ten (10) secrets, I assure you that you will successfully gain admission into any institution of your choice in the year 2016.

3 aspect of your life that requires you to pay attension to listening

Listening is an important factor in learning. Many at times we overlook the importance of listening, especially during conversations. We are always eager to express our own view even without listening to what others have to say.
As a result we commit the crime of ruining conversations, causing arguments by saying the right thing at the wrong time.
This has been a very serious problem in our day to day living. In this article we will discuss three (3) aspect of your life that requires you to pay rapt attention to your listening.

    LESSON 1.       LISTENING TO TALK
When lectures are on the aim of the speaker is to convey vital information to the audience. But then, one will not get any information if one did not hear what the lecturer said. How then can someone hear what is being said if they do not listen? So you see, listening to is the key! When you are listening to talks-be it in class or in Seminal etc. It is very important for you to listen attentively because only then will you get the information you need.
      LESSON 2.    LISTENING TO YOURSELF
Prior to this moment you may have given little or no attention to listening to yourself while speaking. However, this is a very special attribute that you must possess. The best speakers never fail to listen to their own speech. When you speak, always listen to yourself. Why? Because only then will you avoid:
(i)  Passing wrong information to your listeners, and
(ii) Using words that will not sound pleasing to your audience.
If you fail to listen to your speech, be you an expert, a professor. You will never take note when you go off the track (because of our imperfect state). But when you listen to yourself as you speak, it will be easier for you to rectify your mistakes (when you say the wrong word, you will take note and quickly replace them with the right one). That will go a long way in enhancing a smooth conversation and accurate speaking.
 LESSON 3      LISTENING DURING CONVERSATIONS
In the onset of this article it was stated that one of our biggest problem in our day to day living is listening to others during conversations. We highlighted the effect of such. Nevertheless, you can avert argument when conversing with others by paying rapt attention when the other person speaks. Never you make the mistake of trying to speak when someone else speaks, but rather listen carefully to what they say, think about them before expressing you thoughts. As a result you will get the best out of your everyday conversation.

See 5 steps that will help you to become a successful student

Who is a student? According to the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary of current English (AS Hornby) P.14841. A student is a person who is studying at a University or Collage.
2. A person who is studying at a school especially a secondary school.

3. A person who is very interested in a particular subject.
Which ever definition you find appealing, you will readily cling to my idea that the sole purpose or main aim of every student (irrespective of the level) is to be successful (pass examinations and be better than their teachers).

One must be aware that success and failure comes as a result of personal choice, and the degree of effort put into finding it. In this article we will discuss four (4) simple steps to academic success.
STEP 1.Passion and a healthy attitude toward learning.
It is hard to be motivated to do well in school, if you have a negative attitude toward learning. Every student needs to take up a positive attitude toward learning; as one can't benefit from something that doesn't interests him.
A teenager ones said: "every year I pup up with low grades, I already explained to my parents that I don't like school. But they won't just let me quit." When you don't have passion for what you doing, you will never be moved to put extra effort into it. As a result you are bound to fail. However, to have a passion for certain school activities and class subjects may not always be easy. Why? Because not everything in your curriculum may seem relevant. Still, an education on a variety of subjects will enrich your understanding of the world around you. It will also give the ability to talk to people of various backgrounds. At the very least, you will improve your thinking ability-a skill that will be of great help to you in the future.
                STEP 2.Good study habits.
There is never a shortcut to success in school. Even if you cheat now and pass your examinations, sooner or later you will still need to study. Granted, that might have an unpleasant sound to the ears. However, there are arrays of benefit that results from studying. In fact with little effort you will find it enjoyable. The key to becoming a successful student is studying. Not just to study but regular and effective studying. (You may like to read the article "5 powerful tools that will aid you in studying effectively")
We all know that success is not achieved in a day, but rather it is a product of everyday effort. The worlds great and successful people kept trying until the victory came, a good example is" Sir Isaac Newton" He never gave up until it was over. So it is for every student who is determined to succeed, he must hold on to his dreams without giving up.
STEP 3.A positive view of your abilities.
School can reveal hidden talents in you. Each of us has hidden talents. This abilities needs to be cultivated so that it would not lie dormant or go to waste. However your scholastic abilities are not directly bestowed upon you by God. Nevertheless, the abilities you have are unique to you. School can help you to discover and nurture abilities that you never thought you had. So in other to become a successful student, you will avoid setting yourself up for disaster by thinking that you are not capable of improving. But such thoughts will surely come around. What should you do then? Replace them with positive thoughts, this can go a long way in helping you to become a successful student.
           STEP 4.Discipline.
This is the very aspect affects majority of student if not all. Discoveries have shown that 45% of failure in school comes as a result of indiscipline. One must have his thoughts in his palms. Always remember, you are a student for a reason ...why can't you just be whatever is required of you simply to get what you came for. A student named Clara ones said: "Some teachers are just so rude. I can't stand the sight of my mathematics teacher. When ever he comes to class I best want to disappear." Many other students feel as Clara does, but the truth is ...if you feel this way toward all your teachers you will end up not attending all classes, you know what will result from that -FAILURE!! Everyone deserves freedom. God did not just give us the gift of "free will" for nothing ... However every student who wants to be successful must have self discipline. Indiscipline bears laziness and procrastination. Those are the main causes of failure.
In conclusion, by studying effectively you can succeed. But you and I know that everyone will not just succeed at the same time, but this fact does not prove you can not succeed if you are determined to be. As a student, if you strictly follow these four (4) steps discussed in this article, never again will you partake from the cup of failure.
